Why The Changes?
With social distancing guidance likely to restrict large sporting gatherings, the WIN Network Current Cruiser needs to adopt a novel way forward in order to progress. Since its inception 2 years ago our swim has gained rapid popularity, largely due to its novel nature with the current at Shallow Inlet, and we are eager to maintain this momentum. Not only does the event generate a very welcome contribution to the operation of the Waratah Beach Life Saving Club, it also creates a healthy and social focal point for Sandy Point locals and visitors alike.

Between 2-8 January 2021 registered swimmers can complete their nominated swim distance in whatever water they are able to access (backyard pool, community pool, ocean or inlet.) Once completed swimmers upload their time for their nominated event on the WIN Network Current Cruiser website. Once the window closes, entered times are sorted against events and accessible on the website. Because of measurement variables there will be no formal awards for 2021 however I do know that listed times will be used amongst friends and groups for competitive bragging rights across the state and even from interstate and overseas who until now have never been able to compete in a Current Cruiser.
Registration
Swimmers will register for their preferred distance and nominate either current-assisted or still water (e.g. swimming pool). There is a 500m division for both water types, and the longer swims are 1,500m for current-assisted and 1,200m for still water.

Between 2-8 January 2021 registered swimmers can complete their nominated swim distance in whatever water they are able to access (backyard pool, community pool, ocean or inlet.)
