With last years’ WIN Network Current Cruiser Swim needing to be held virtually, I am sure many of you are eagerly looking forward to a physical event in 2022. With the recent easing of Victorian Covid regulations we can now reasonably confidently press forward so I am full steam ahead to get the event put together. Permits, plans, approvals, sponsors, advertising and communications are all in their early stages but we are well under way for the swim to be held on the first Saturday in January and the forecast tides mean we will be starting around 1:00pm to catch the best current. Because next years’ WIN Network Current Cruiser Swim falls on New Year’s Day we appreciate that we may lose some of our regulars however we hope to gain many new swimmers who are in the are the area over the break. Last year the swim raised around $10,000 for the Waratah Beach Surf Life Saving Club, and in a year where normal fund-raising activities such as the bar could not operate, meaning the contribution from sponsors and supporters of the swim represented the bulk of the club’s fundraising for the year.
T-shirts are currently being designed and we are now looking for sponsors in all categories, Gold, Silver and Bronze along with individual events, sponsorship packages are now available. The WIN Network have kindly offered to support us again as naming rights sponsor and will create a television ad for us to promote the event and our sponsors. Carl from GT Design Studio is rebuilding the event website and social media platforms so we can promote sponsors and, along with posters and broadcasts at the event on the day, we are aiming to provide the best value we can including being referenced on the t-shirt and televisions. Keep an eye on the website and Facebook for updates, and I will let you know as soon as we have early bird entries open.
